Our home base for the Iowa Writers and Readers Retreat will be the beautiful historic Hotel Pattee, a fully restored boutique hotel just 45 minutes from Des Moines.

The hotel features 40 uniquely-themed sleeping rooms in two queen and single king options. Each room is custom designed to a fun Iowa theme and features handmade quilts and other decor.

Sleeping rooms at the hotel are not included in the retreat price but can be reserved at a discounted cost by calling the Hotel Pattee (515) 465-3511 and mentioning the Iowa Writers and Readers Retreat.

Hotel Amenities include an onsite restaurant, onsite full-service coffee shop, a historic library with copper fireplace and a lounge with antique bowling alley plus a gracious and inviting lobby filled with art and antiques.

The Hotel Pattee is fully handicapped accessible.

Staying at the hotel is encouraged but not required for the retreat. Guests are welcome to stay at another hotel in Perry, a Vrbo in Perry or Woodward or drive from home daily if you are local.
